Wouldja?<BR/><BR/>It's an interesting question about flawed characters. Not having read the book, I wonder if it was less a matter of Livesey making her character too likeable (likeable characters can, I think, be compelling enough to carry a book) and more that she just failed to pull it off on the terms that the book itself set up. Yet, kind of what you said about the character's lack of a struggle -- if you feel there's not much at stake for a character, then there's not much to pull the reader along.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
